Bach, Purcell, Hughes, Walker
November 8–10, 2024
Themes of memory & hope abound in early music of Germany, England, and America. Alongside two monumental works by a young J.S. Bach, the chaconne for solo violin and the cantata Actus Tragicus, we feature American hymnody and folksong, H. Purcell’s “Evening Hymn,” T. Campion’s “Never weather-beaten sail,” and living composer David Hughes’ “May He Support Us All The Day Long.”
